Swiss national leaps to death from hotel room in Angeles City
ANGELES CITY - A 52-year-old Swiss national was killed after he leapt from his hotel room and landed head first near the swimming pool of Queens Hotel situated at the corner Constantine and Tinio Streets, Sta. Maria 1 Subdivision, Barangay Balibago here Friday.
Daniel Rolf Balmer, occupant of fifth floor room 505, died on the spot due to head and body fractures, according to the police report.
Balmer, a regular guest at Queens Hotel for more than four years, frequented this city to visit his transgender partner Jinalyn Larazo Mustacho. Both checked in at Queens Hotel on June 23 this year.
Police said Balmer was last seen Thursday evening in the company of his transgender partner. The incident happened when Muctacho was out of the hotel.
Other guests who were having fun in the hotel swimming pool were surprised and scampered to different directions after Balmer landed in their midst past 10 a.m.
During investigation, Mustacho told authorities that Balmer attempted to commit suicide several times but was persuaded not to. “I just left to get food and moments later I heard the people downstairs screaming.”
The incident was reported to the police by Marty Ferrer, 31, member of the Globalshield Security Agency posted at the hotel when the suicide happened.
Police said Balmer’s body was covered with towels and bed sheet when investigators arrived at the scene. The foreigner was lying face down on the pool side.
Scene of the Crime Investigators found pieces of rolling papers and sticks of marijuana at the room of Balmer.
Police probers are not ruling out foul play as no suicide note was found in his room.
Senior Supt. Eden Ugale, Director of Angeles City Police Office, ordered Station 4 police to conduct a more in-depth investigation.
